The site is managed and staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers and we are always looking to recruit more as our animals need 7 day a week attention.
Jobs include feeding and watering, cleaning out cages, pens and enclosures, mucking out stables, socialising with certain animals and general housekeeping around the site.
You don’t have to work directly with the animals, and if you don’t mind a bit of hard graft, there is always shifting, lifting, repairing and painting to be done.
We are a happy, friendly bunch of people who love the animals and enjoy each other’s company. We need people who are willing to get stuck in and don’t mind a bit of muck and hard work.
Training will be given so don’t worry if you are not sure but would like to help.
Our site is manned entirely by volunteers and we are a non-profit sanctuary. We are not open to the public on a daily basis and have no regular income. We rely entirely on donations and the good will of our volunteers.
Our onsite teams change on a daily basis depending on each individual’s availability. Some attend regularly and others when they can.
We have circa 250 animals and birds on our 15 acre site. The role of the volunteer is to ensure that each and every creature has sufficient water, food and has a clean, warm bed. When time allows we spend quality time with the animals to enhance their lives.
We are always looking for new volunteers but we must state the following:
- You must be over 16 yrs of age.
- You must have a current tetanus injection.
- You must have your own transport, or a means of getting to and from the Sanctuary. Walking, biking or buses are not an option. We are situated on a very busy and dangerous road.
If you can meet the above conditions and you would like to become a volunteer then please let us know by clicking the button below and completing the contact form.
We will then be happy to arrange a pre-visit for you to discuss it further.
